Annual Presidential Wreath-laying Ceremonies for John Quincy Adams and John Adams 



The Presidential Wreath-laying Ceremonines at the Church of the Presidents are part of a national tradition of honoring United States Presidents started by the Johnson Administration in 1966.


The Church of the Presidents sponsors the annual wreath-laying traditions for the Second and Sixth Presidents at noon on their birthdays each year.

Each year on their birthday anniversaries the President of the United Sates sends a wreath to the church to be placed on the tombs of the Presidents.   This tradition started during the administration of President Lyndon Johnson whereby a wreath of red, white & blue flowers are sent to the burial place of all deceased presidents on the anniversary of their birthday.

50 Years of Honoring the Adams Presidents

2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the current presidential wreath-laying tradition here at United First Parish Church and at presidential burial sites across the country.
