The fourth annual flag raising—organized by Quincy's LBGTQ+ Commission, QPride, and United First Parish Church—took place on Sunday, June 1st at 6:00 PM on the steps of the church. The unfurling of the Progress Pride Flag marked the beginning of Pride Month celebrations in Quincy. The event featured live musical performances and speakers from various local organizations. Additionally, Rev. Rebecca Froom and members of the Quincy Interfaith Network gave an invocation and blessing on the Progress Pride Flag and LGBTQ+ attendees. On November 20th, 2023, United First Parish Church hosted the first Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil in Quincy to honor trans and nonbinary beloveds who lost their lives to transphobic violence in the past year. The vigil was co-sponsored by the Quincy Interfaith Network, QPride, Quincy’s LGBTQ Commission, and the Quincy PFLAG Chapter. The front steps of United First Parish Church and the new park were the site of a large Black Lives Matter vigil held on June 3rd, 2020. This vigil drew thousands of people and was attended by many of our members and leaders. This event was featured in The Quincy Sun in 2020, but the article is no longer accessible online.
